I am working on a long-term project of 100 small (6″x6″) paintings, each including at least one mobile home. Living in North Florida, the mobile home is ubiquitous. I paint landscapes to explore my love of light and shadow, clouds, roads and the rural landscape, and I decided, why always leave homes out?
The simple dwellings represent many things to me: home, independence, loneliness, hope, and sadness. The simple form reflects light and shadow as a box study; the woods, fields and skies are infinitely fascinating to me. The stories inside each dwelling remain unknown, but as varied as the houses are similar.
My plan is complete the series and have an exhibit of the entire series. Currently the individual pieces are not for sale. I consider the whole project to be one piece.
