I teach a class called 2-D Design at Santa Fe College. One of our projects is a 4-inch square lino-cut module, that when repeated creates a pattern.
I realized that the module concept could work well with a relief tile. With the help of ceramics instructor, Kate Murray, I plunged into a new medium and started designing relief tiles with the idea of making multiples and eventually installations.
I have had a steep learning curve and my mold-making skills leave a lot to be desired, but I am still interested in tiles as a long-term project.
